Niche to Get Rich

“Niche down until it hurts, then niche again. You want to be the Category King in your niche, which many times means creating a new category”.

– Justin Benton, Investor, CEO & Founder of 101Hemp.org An Interview With Candice Georgiadis

To choose, then to decide, and finally, commit to only one idea is wherein lies your challenge. It’s difficult and painful because it is against our nature to say one confident, “YES,” and 1000 no’s. We see our “potential” audience drop from 4 million to 5,000, and we panic, thinking that numbers are everything – the more, the better! But 5,000 people who would buy everything you develop? Now that is better than 4 million people who think your Instagram ad is annoying and report it, throwing you and your dream under the proverbial bus.

Niching is the only strategy when you are just starting. Nothing beats it, and nothing can replace it. Think of it as the magnifying glass to harness the sun that starts the fire. Once your fire is raging, you’ll be able to throw every weird and wonderful creation into your bonfire, and enjoy watching it get worshiped.

What are some examples of great niching work?

Foria: Sexual Wellness

Started specifically with female sexual health and orgasms. Gained trust, a following, and only then branched out to female wellness products.

Kiva: Started with only high-quality chocolate that worked on fixing one specific problem: inconsistent edible dosage. Later on, they expanded out with two sub-brands with their own identity and niche.

S*shots : Infused mixers provide bartenders and consumers great options for new cocktails out and about or at home. They provide specific flavors and simple recipes.
